Summer is almost here folks! The weather is warming up and the kids are out of school. When you’re looking for something to do, what’s better than FREE kids stuff? Believe it or not there is more out there than you’d think, the trick is finding it. When I was a kid, Summer was such an exciting time. Kids are on a break from school for a couple of months and looking to spend that time the best way possible in order to have the ‘what I did over Summer’ stories to tell.
So I bring to you my list of FREE summer fun, Orange County style…
The OC Fair – An Orange County classic. Thursdays are Kids Day – children 12 and under get in FREE. This years Farm Fresh Fun runs from July 14 – August 13, 2017. My favorite each year is We Care Wednesdays. Every Wednesday they offer a FREE OC Fair admission plus one FREE carnival ride per person with a donation. Donation requests go to a nonprofit organization and is different each week. Click here to see all promotions offered at this years Fair. Dana Wharf Sportfishing offers a Kids FREE Fishing Clinic in the Dana Point Harbor every Sunday at Noon. All children are invited to come to a dock side fishing clinic and learn hands on techniques about fishing from the experts. Adventure Run! Encourage your kids to get out and be active. Roadrunner Sports in Laguna Hills hosts America’s Largest FREE Fun Run. The event is held from 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on the 1st Thursday of every month and runs from June 1 – October 5 . I started attending this last Summer with my teenage daughter and it’s a lot of fun. The event has an attendance of hundreds of people, they have giveaways from sponsoring vendors (some will also have products available to demo during the run), prize raffles, music, and a complimentary beer for the adults at the end! You have an hour to hit as many of the 12 checkpoints as you can, collecting raffle tickets. The course changes each month and it’s also a great way to discover some of the local shops. It’s also a great way to get the family out and get active. For more information and additional locations click here. To register for the event online visit www.eventbrite.com.
